The Colorado Air Organization continues to do a great job of getting more seats / flights to the Telluride area, with the Lion's share coming into Montrose.  However, commercial service is back in business with the Telluride (TEX) airport as Great Lakes Aviation, who is affiliated with United, is back and servicing TEX!  This will be great for our visitors and real estate market.  Enjoy:

TELLURIDE, Colorado (August 23, 2016) – Heading into the Winter 2016-17 season, Telluride will once again see a major jump in air service, continuing to add options and ranking among the best in mountain resorts for access.

With two airports serving the destination, Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) and Telluride Regional Airport (TEX), major additions are coming to both this winter.

Telluride is reveling in the return of commercial flights to TEX, just 10 minutes from town and the ski area. TEX will once again see daily commercial service beginning December 17th. The Denver to Telluride flights will be provided by Great Lakes (United partners) and will run year-round, averaging 10 flights per week.

Telluride/Montrose (MTJ) is also boasting new Denver service with the addition of twice-weekly Allegiant Air flights. The low-cost carrier looks to provide an affordable option to the I-70 corridor skier from the Denver area, as well as great local outbound access. Along with the new 35-minute, $9 commuter train from downtown Denver to Denver International Airport, the ease and cost of getting to destination skiing for Denver locals just took a major turn for the better.

For the third straight year, the region will see a major jump in service to MTJ on the American Airlines network. Flights from Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) will now begin on November 18th and run twice daily during the core parts of the season, including mainline jets. Flights from Phoenix-Sky Harbor (PHX) will now run daily through the season, where they had been 2-5x weekly previously. Service will also continue from Chicago (ORD) and Los Angeles (LAX) on American.

For MTJ core carrier United, Denver (DEN) will see mainline jets on the midday flights, among the 3-6 daily options through the season. United is offering larger jets from Houston (IAH) on Saturdays once again, and adding a flight to make three-per-week from San Francisco (SFO). Daily flights continue from ORD, with 1-3 flights weekly from New York (LGA), New York/New Jersey (EWR) and Los Angeles (LAX).

“We’re continuing to charge up the ladder of accessibility,” said Colorado Flights COO Matt Skinner. “We now rank among the best in mountain airports for direct flight options, and are one of the few to have major network connectivity, a low cost carrier and flights that land just 10 minutes from the slopes. Both our guests and locals alike will enjoy the multiple options with easy access to and from domestic and international destinations.”

This 2016-17 winter season will see an overall increase in air service to the Telluride region of approximately 12%, with a 30% increase over two years.

“The direct economic impact of added flights is invaluable to the region, and we look forward to continued growth along with the major increases in air service,” said Michael Martelon, CEO of the Telluride Tourism Board.
